Legal

Terms & Conditions.

Last updated: August 8, 2026

These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the BlackWhitePDF website and converter (the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. The Service

BlackWhitePDF provides a free, browser-based tool to convert PDFs to grayscale PDF or black and white PDF, including optional crop/deskew and quality controls. The Service is offered “as is” for personal and professional use subject to these Terms.

2. Eligibility

You must be able to form a binding contract under applicable law to use the Service. If you use the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

3. Your content and responsibilities

You retain all rights to the PDFs and other files you process. You are solely responsible for ensuring you have the legal right to convert, modify, download, and use those files. Do not use the Service to process content that is illegal, infringing, or that you are not authorized to handle.

Because conversion runs in your browser, you are also responsible for keeping downloaded outputs and for verifying that results meet your quality, print, or archival needs before relying on them.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Attempt to disrupt, overload, scrape abusively, or reverse engineer the Service except as allowed by law.
  • Use the Service to distribute malware or to violate others’ privacy or intellectual property rights.
  • Misrepresent the Service as providing server-side document storage or guaranteed OCR accuracy.
  • Bypass rate limits, security controls, or access restrictions if implemented.

5. Intellectual property

The website design, branding, copy, and software that make up the Service are owned by us or our licensors. You may not copy, modify, or redistribute our branding or site code except as permitted by applicable open-source licenses included with third-party libraries, or with our prior written consent.

6. No professional advice

Output from the converter is a technical transformation of your file. It is not legal, medical, archival, or print-compliance advice. You are responsible for checking the downloaded PDF before filing, printing, or publishing.

7. Availability and changes

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time, including free features, without liability. We may also update these Terms; the “Last updated” date will change when we do. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

8. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that conversion will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that every page will look perfect for every input file.

9. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE AND OUR AFFILIATES WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR BUSINESS, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATED TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICE IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS (US $100). Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those cases, our liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted.

10. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your files, or your violation of these Terms or applicable law.

11. Privacy

Our handling of information is described in thePrivacy Policy, which is incorporated by reference into these Terms.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable in the jurisdiction where the site operator is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, unless mandatory consumer protections in your country provide otherwise. Courts in that jurisdiction will have exclusive venue for disputes, subject to applicable consumer rights.
